Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2014


From November 25th to the 29th 2014, the 9th edition of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival will take place in the Monte-Carlo Opera’s Salle Garnier.


Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2014Jazz and music in general are right at home in this wonderful setting, a temple devoted to music and creativity for over a century. This latest edition of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival reflects contemporary jazz, opening up to world music and gives a wide space to the voice. 


The festival starts on November 25th with prestigious Galliano, Lagrène, Lockwood Trio: accordion, guitar, violin are the symbols of European jazz. On the same evening, Sylvain Luc & Stefano Di Battista Quartet, an exceptional group centred around two very talented soloists. Jean-Lou Treboux, young and talented vibraphonist will perform the opening act.


Wednesday November 26th, Ibrahim Maalouf and Kenny Garrett and their various formations will take you on a journey through the Orient, with rock, Jazz and Afro-American sounds.


On November 27th, the evening will be under the sign of world music with Céu, a young Brazilian singer in first act, followed by Orchestre El Gusto, a truly exceptional human and musical experience, with 20 musicians sharing the stage. They will play « chaâbi » music, transposing joy and good mood to the rhythm of atypical instruments such as the qanoun, lute, banjo, mandolin…


On November 28th, the festival welcomes Chris Rea for his big comeback. This very talented guitarist will sing his greatest hits, including « Joséphine » and « The Road to Hell… ». He shared the spotlight with Robin McKelle, a wonderful soul singer who will take us on a journey to Southern United States and Rhythm & Blues.


On November 29th, Lemmy Constantine will perform the opening act, playing Amercian style Gypsy Jazz. We are delighted to welcome then Dee Dee Bridgewater, one of Jazz’s greatest voices, and an exceptional show woman as well as Curtis Stigers, American singer, saxophonist and songwriter, who penned the famous « I Wonder Why », is one of today’s greatest crooners.


The 9th season of the Jazz Festival promises to be a mesmerising one.
