Eine Wiedereröffnung am 16. März 2018 unter dem Zeichen der Lebensfreude im Monte-Carlo Beach Mon, 16 Oct 2017 09:05:41 +0000 francoisblanc  The Monte-Carlo Beach, one of the jewels of the Société des Bains de Mer, has announced that it will open for the season on 16th March. Excellence, luxury and exquisite wellness and enjoyment are all on the programme this season, where nature and culture are always the stars of the show and “living the good life” is our motto.

Monte-Carlo Beach

A member of the Relais & Châteaux network since its renovation by the famous interior designer India Madhavi, this 5-star hotel has 14 suites and 26 rooms with a superb view of the Mediterranean. Guests of the Monte-Carlo Beach benefit from a personalised approach and exceptional services, revelling in the richness of experience for maximum enjoyment.

By opening its doors the first weekend in March, the Monte-Carlo Beach marks the return of balmy weather by welcoming guests to enjoy the first rays of the season around the legendary Olympic-sized swimming pool, winner of the Prix Villégiature award for Best Hotel Pool in Europe, or on the terrace under the legendary pine trees offering delicious shade. It’s no wonder that season after season, discriminating clients seek out the elegance and comfort of the Beach.

Despite the many different trends and movements that have characterised the years since the 1930s, the Monte-Carlo Beach has stood strong, promoting the Riviera way of life and increasingly taking steps to help protect the environment.

Experiencing the Beach also means experiencing its local, 100% organic cuisine. The Monte-Carlo Beach Relais & Châteaux has its own Green Globe certified charter. These guidelines highlight many certifications and actions in environmental management, which can be summed up in its main programme, “Beach goes Bio!” Once again this year, Michelin-starred Chef Paolo Sari has designed a menu with dishes that respect nature and the Mediterranean environment. An advocate of healthy eating practices, Paolo Sari combines high flavour standards with his knowledge of wellness and a deep appreciation of the art of living and enjoyment. The Michelin-starred Elsa restaurant embodies this extraordinary philosophy and is home to this remarkable chef’s beautiful organic cuisine.

The Monte-Carlo Shopping Promenade will welcome the prestigious brand Goyard Thu, 12 Oct 2017 11:53:44 +0000 chloefolco Only the real elite knows the Parisian luggage and bags brand Goyard. Known for it’s fastidiousness, it makes sense then that the Maison will soon reopen  a new showroom in Monaco

Saigon Full beijing

More than 200 years old, the Maison was originally the luggage makers of aristocrats, in the 19th and 20th centuries, counting the Rockefellers, the Romanovs, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Karl Lagerfeld and Arthur Conan Doyle as customers.

In fact the brand is as mysterious and enigmatic as any piece of Conan Doyle fiction. Notoriously secretive the Maison’s storied tradition of craftsmanship and customisation refrains from any advertising and refuses to engage in something as common as e-commerce. This mystery is evidently alluring with the instantly recognisable hand painted Chevron pattern seen at many an international cultural elite gathering.

Originally a family owned business spanning five generations, devotee Jean-Michel Signoles now privately owns Goyard. The original Maison Goyard store in Monaco opened in 1900 and inspired the country’s very own signature style, the Monte-Carlo clutch.

Today the Maison offers only the chicest of accessories for the most discerning of clientele… and their pets. The world’s most famous cat, Choupette (Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved Birman) is never without a piece from the brands Le Chic du Chien range.

Carla Bruni “French Touch” in concert in Monaco on the 29th of November 2017 Tue, 10 Oct 2017 08:57:39 +0000 francoisblanc Image-a-la-une-640x360-Carla-Bruni

“Did you already think singing in English”? It was in Spring 2014 when Carla Bruni met legendary producer, composer, and musician David Foster after an L.A. performance. Singing in English? But Carla Bruni has already done that on her second album, No Promises (2005), putting in music some Dorothy Parker’s verses and other Anglo-Saxon poets with the romantic aura. For the songwriter, the interrogation was most on the legitimacy to write in Lou Reed’s language. David Foster, was also president of Verve –the french singer’s american label – insisted and proposed to record an album of covers. French Touch is a label used for the Parisian electronic music, but the term has broader meaning: it’s about a certain effortless elegance, a sexiness worn lightly, a je ne sais quoi. Bruni, of course, embodies this quality as much as anyone on earth. And on her new LP, even the most canonical American pop anthems—songs that otherwise feel as far away from France as, say, the Sunset Strip—have it, too. Of course, Foster’s artful arranging brought to the table “something bigger than my music usually has,” Bruni says. Richly melodic, warm yet minimal, and often slyly playful, the covers have all the universal appeal as the originals, albeit with a sultry flavor all their own—almost as though Bruni and Foster had written them themselves. Her new album remains faithful to the project. From the opening song, “Enjoy the Silence” (1990) from Depeche Mode; revisited as a folksong, to the cover from the Swedish quatuor Abba “The Winner Takes It All” (1980), each of these madeleines of Proust married the imprint of the musician. These freedoms led her to revisit the Rolling Stones classic “Miss you” (1978) in a Latin-Italian disco vein embellished with a flamenco guitar and oriental strings or to approach the success “Jimmy Jazz” (1979) ) of Clash as a march. The rest of the album, spans the gamut from rock classics (“Perfect Day” from Lou Reed) to old standards (“Moon River,” “Love Hurts,” “Crazy”), but all the tracks share a quality of, as Bruni aptly describes, “intimacy.” Carla Bruni will be back on the Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo stage on November 29th, after her first representation in 2013.

Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2017 Tue, 26 Sep 2017 11:42:36 +0000 francoisblanc For its 12th edition, the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2017 will be taking place between November 16th and December 2nd at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo.

Since it was founded in 2006, the festival has received the high patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco, and we would like to thank him for the attention he has unfailingly given to the event.

This festival will allow us to discover and re-discover the greatest stars of jazz and current talents in this wonderful venue, a temple to music and creation for over a century.

The festival reflects jazz music as it is: open to all musical currents, always leaving room for tradition yet without being conservative, taking inspiration from music from all over the world and showcasing creation.

Throughout this 12th edition, we will be meeting the greatest musicians of the time, the loveliest contemporary jazz voices and the greatest soloists.

This programme is in the image of these 11 years of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival. It shows that jazz is still diverse, unrestricted and freedom-loving.

For the opening night on November 16th, the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2017 has chosen a monument of music, Marcus Miller, who will present extracts from his brand new album. He shares the bill with Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles.

From Tuesday November 17th to Saturday December 2nd, we will have several concerts performed by the greatest jazz artists of the time, such as Stacey Kent, Dhafer Youssef, Chick Corea and Steve Gadd with their project The Corea / Gadd Band. We will also be paying homage to two legends, as we will be receiving Texas and Christophe. As always, the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival is also the opportunity to discover tomorrow’s jazz, with new formations like the feminine trio Sirius Plan, James Carter’s Elektrik Outlet and new talents like Laurent Coulondre.

Lastly, we will close this festival with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, which will play current hits, rearranged with different musical genres. The Puppini Sisters, considered the best close harmony group in the world, will share the bill.

The restaurant L’Hirondelle of Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo has won the 2017 Société des Bains de Mer’s Yule Log contest Tue, 26 Sep 2017 11:39:05 +0000 chloefolco For the second year in a row, the jury has selected the creation by pastry chef Cédric Desideri as the winning dessert.

The Société des Bains de Mer began preparing for the year-end festivities in September, when the resort’s pastry chefs each designed a signature yule log inspired by a casino game theme.

A hallmark of traditional meals and tea during the year-end holidays, the yule log became the object of a gourmet cooking contest for the Société des Bains de Mer’s pastry chefs. Each chef designed a brilliant recipe for the best yule log in 2017 contest, demonstrating their exquisite talent. Beautifully crafted and delicious to boot, the creations were complete with all the holiday trimmings.

A jury consisting of professionals, journalists and influencers examined many talented creations, finally selecting the creation by Cédric Desideri, young pastry chef at the restaurant L’Hirondelle of Thermes Marins Monte-Carloto be the ‘Bûche Chance’ (Simple Luck Yule Log).

His ‘Chance’ dessert is an allusion to the Principality’s roulette game. As delectable as it is elegant, the yule log consists of a crunchy nut base topped with a light vanilla Bavarian cream, green apple jelly and caramelised apples.

His creation will be featured on menus of the Société des Bains de Mer resort and available on site or for takeaway.

Do you feel the calling of a pastry chef’s inspiration? Try the ‘Chance’ Yule Log recipe and blow your holiday guests away!

‘Chance’ Yule Log for 8 people: €85 (book 24 hours in advance)

E-magazine Monte-Carlo Society Autumn 2017 Thu, 21 Sep 2017 08:42:11 +0000 marieblanc Autumn is back, you can consult all the latest news on the Principality of Monaco by leafing through online Monte-Carlo Society

This autumn, let’s enjoy Monaco’s mild climate and start off by heading for the sea! We set out to meet two adventurers: Yvan Griboval, who launched himself on a solo mission to conquer the oceans and Pierre Casiraghi, a man immersed in the adrenaline-fuelled world of nautical races. We follow the ship Yersin, which has set sail from Monaco on a three-year mission for Monaco Explorations dedicated to ocean conservation. And we dive into the lifestyle of the super yachts presented at the highly exclusive Monaco Yacht Show.

Autumn in Monaco also features other key events dedicated to luxury, including the Top Marques Watches exhibition, and sport, such as the Sportel convention. The spotlight is on inspiration at TEDx Monte-Carlo, while the treasures of Monaco’s many art galleries beckon you to discover them. Autumn is also a lyrical, artistic season: the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo takes us on a musical voyage, and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo unfurls its sophisticated, imaginative programme. And of course, the beat and excitement continue with the artists of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival.

This autumn you are also invited to try your luck in one of Monaco’s casinos, and in particular, to discover the luxurious side of gaming at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, which keeps reinventing itself by offering increasingly unusual and magical experiences. We visit the Atrium of the Casino to marvel at the creativity of world-famous interior design Charles Kaisin.

Autumn in Monaco always brings a breath of fresh air that’s full of surprises. I invite you to experience its many facets.

Let’s Fall in Diamonds Fri, 15 Sep 2017 13:02:32 +0000 cindyvimercati An art installation by Charles Kaisin

For his first temporary art installation, Charles Kaisin has created a scenographic work based on a motif of red and white diamonds, a powerful symbol evoking both the Principality’s coat of arms and the world of card games.

The principle: a “camouflage” installation, with the entire Atrium and Rotunda of the Casino de Monte-Carlo given a dramatic new look, some 1400 m² of diamond-patterned fabric adorning the legendary venue’s Art Deco decor, from the floor and walls to the furniture, fixtures and fittings…

This is total art. Not merely an optical effect, but a complete immersion in an original interactive experience.

Stimulating all the senses

On arriving, visitors are immediately pitched into a perplexing environment, where space appears multiplied to infinite proportions. A specially created fragrance is gently diffused, imprinting itself on each visitor’s memory as they move through the space to the rhythm of the musical ambience, custom-designed by a Belgian DJ.

From there, you’re free to head in whatever direction the fancy takes you, wandering the Atrium, the bedroom and bathroom areas, relaxing in the living room with its sofas, armchairs and pouffes, or taking a seat at one of the two tables set for 12 guests in the dining room, perhaps finishing with a red and white Diamonds cocktail at the Rotunda Bar.

A meeting of two worlds and two arts

This journey into the worlds of Art and Gaming brought to you by the Casino de Monte-Carlo, is also a meeting between the creative savoir-faire of Charles Kaisin’s teams, and the artisanal and culinary expertise of the men and women of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer.

For the “Let’s Fall in Diamonds” installation, the decor, furnishings and works of art are all drawn from the company’s iconic heritage (casino, hotels, restaurants). Over 600 pieces have been specially decorated for the occasion, each one bringing history back to life in a defiantly contemporary new red and white skin that preserves and sublimes all at once.

Discover what to wear for autumn/winter 2017 with Promenade Monte-Carlo Shopping Tue, 12 Sep 2017 14:51:55 +0000 chloefolco How do women want to dress for autumn/winter 2017? This was what designers addressed (!) with their current collections. And guess what? They’ve all got their own answer

Promenade Monte-Carlo Shopping

There’s something for everyone and it’s arguably fashion’s most inclusive season ever. The message is clear; diversity is what makes fashion-and life- great.

Sexy Space Glamour

Defined by Chanel, with an actual spaceship taking off in the Grand Palais, the glitter, silver lamé and sequins on show at Dior, Miu Miu and Saint Laurent confirmed that you either go big on the evening glamour or stay at home. The key piece that nails this trend has to be the sexy diamanté covered slouchy heeled boots at Saint Laurent.

Red Alert

Forget the millennial pink of spring, red is the colour of this season. Wear it top to toe (like we do with black… but only in red) or in varying shades and contrasting fabrics. Powerful and arresting, stop traffic in Prada’s figure hugging, flirty hemmed red dress.

That 70’s Show

The 70’s was the retro inspo for Prada, Gucci and Miu Miu. It wasn’t hippy or disco but chic daywear in caramel, coffee and tobacco tones. Wallpaper prints, pimp-style jackets and lots of feathers and fluff finishes off the look. Prada elevated the granny knit cardigan to must-have status and corduroy (every geography teacher’s favourite) is the fabric of the season.

Working Girl Exec

Power suiting powered down the runway in all styles and incarnations. There were pronounced shoulders, pressed, loose trousers to slim fitting ones and nipped in jacket waists. The prevailing factor was: the suit is the new “cosmopolitan practicality”. Prince of Wales checks at Alexander McQueen, oversized and mannish at Céline and double breasted jackets were a mini trend within a trend, as seen at Bottega Veneta.

Best of the Rest

This season is quite literally about ready to wear. Relaxed and easy day wear at Céline or Dior, ready to go straight from the catwalk to the closet. Dior’s girl army wore denim and workwear style jackets with the emblematic bar jacket sporting a hood. The denim trend touched on another look, Americana. Cowboy boots, denim shirts and clothes made with handcrafted techniques had a traditional feel. Alexander McQueen went with an English country heritage theme while at Gucci and Balenciaga it was a cultural mash up, snakeskin and vivid colour mixed with a vintage vibe.

As said, it’s the season where anything goes.

For this new season, treat yourself to the luxury and glamour of an original shopping experience.

Casino de Monte-Carlo tours the world Wed, 23 Aug 2017 17:01:09 +0000 cindyvimercati Thanks to Sarah Elbert, in August 2017 the Casino de Monte-Carlo took off on board the 850 aircraft in the Delta Air Lines fleet.

Thanks to Sarah Elbert, the Casino de Monte-Carlo took off on board the 850 aircraft in the Delta Air Lines fleet, enabling 165 million passengers to share the American journalist’s experience of attending the first surrealist dinner.

It was an opportunity for 2.5 million people in the upper income groups to discover the exceptional menu created by Michelin-starred chef Marcel Ravin and the stunning staging by designer Charles Kaisin, and to escape to the Principality for a little while as they read the article!

Of course, ‘L’Art du Jeu et le Jeu de l’Art’ (‘The Art of the Game and the Game of Art’) was held on 28 April, attended by 120 guests including H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover. Four months later, the message is making its way around the world. The reinvention of the Casino de Monte-Carlo is under way!

As the news takes to the skies, Monaco becomes Europe’s leading gaming destination, enjoying international renown.

Relive this magical occasion, where excellence was to be found not only on the plate but also in the setting, the waltz of the dishes, and the service: link to article

Casino de Monte-Carlo: endless reinvention Wed, 23 Aug 2017 14:56:22 +0000 cindyvimercati

Where art and gaming come together

It was all thanks to a meeting between two men, Pascal Camia, Managing Director of Gaming for Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, and Charles Kaisin, the world-renowned architect and designer from Brussels, that the Casino de Monte-Carlo became the showcase for a new kind of art.

The reinvention took shape on 28 April at the first Surrealist Diner organised in the famous Salle Médecin.

“We are going to reinvent tradition by offering a bespoke, festive and incredible experience. Our ambition is to bring back the thrill of gaming by offering the world’s top gamblers the most prestigious and exclusive gaming experience there is. We are fortunate to occupy Europe’s most prestigious casino location.”
Pascal Camia

Surprise and innovate

The journey continues with the creation, each season, of spectacular pop-up art installations. Belgian designer Charles Kaisin will use his artistic vision to turn the Atrium and Rotunda into an enchanted world full of powerful symbols that will leave visitors with vivid memories.

The installations will be punctuated by Surrealist Dinners, bringing together gamblers and international personalities. The dinners are prepared in secret and designed by the company’s greatest Michelin-starred chefs: Franck Cerruti, Marcel Ravin, etc. A unique and unforgettable experience!

‘Let’s fall in diamonds’
The next event, planned for the end of September, has plenty of surprises in store…

The Route du Goût 2017 Wed, 23 Aug 2017 07:10:46 +0000 francoisblanc Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer will take part in the 3rd instalment of this major Organic Festival

A spotlight on organic

The latest instalment of the Route du Goût will take place on 12 to 15 October 2017. Founded by Paolo Sari, chef at the Monte-Carlo Beach and founding member of the association Bio Chef Global Spirit, the Organic Festival aims at raising widespread awareness about preserving the environment and the natural wealth of our region. An organic market on Quai Antoine 1er, demonstrations on healthy cuisine, a children’s tennis competition at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, educational events on renewable energy, an ecological invention contest, and tips on what to do to help save our planet are just a few examples of what’s in store and sure to delight young and old alike during the 4-day event.

Chefs from the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer and the region are getting involved in the event

From Monday, 9 October to Sunday, 15 October, the restaurants at Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer will be participating in La Route du Goût 2017 and offering menus full of seasonal, locally farmed, organic products. The equivalent of 10% of the price of the menu will be donated to the Route du Goût association.

On Friday, 13 October, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo’s central wine cellar will be opening its doors for organic wine tastings at 9:30, 11:00 and 12:30. It will be a unique opportunity to visit the wine cellar and taste Grands Crus Château La Mascaronne.

Last but not least, the high point of the event: two organic gala dinners.

On Friday, 13 October, 10 children ages 8 to 12 will help 10 Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer chefs prepare the gala dinner. From 19:30, each chef/child pair will present their creations on the stalls of the “Marché des Saveurs” Flavour Market.

Saturday, 14 October will feature a very special event. In partnership with the Prince Albert II Foundation and inspired by its values, the Route du Goût will celebrate the “Chefs Love the Planet” event, whereby 8 Michelin-starred chefs will join 8 different farmers to prepare a unique meal, the concerted effort of 16 Michelin-starred hands.

A humanitarian project

The 2016 instalment of the Route du Goût funded the construction of an organic hotel school in Madagascar, in partnership with the Ecole de Félix Foundation.

In 2017, the organisation’s goal is to help rebuild and boost the food and beverage, hotel, and educational industries in the regions of Italy that were devastated by the 2016 earthquake. At the same time, the organisation will provide occasional training for students at the organic hotel school and is already planning to build a second building for the organic hotel school of Madagascar.
